Gods and Their Universes
The big challenge is to not hate God in the abstract, for personal mental health reasons, primarily.
God in the abstract is the name of the creator of a universe. There are many reasons to hate God, any god or gods, which is to say the creater of any universe who can enact their will onto the universe and through the universe.
The first and most obvious reason to hate God is God’s control, which does not consult you about how things should be running.
Secondly, a god’s particular personality, or their personal qualities, which you and I might find detestable, can be the most intuitive reason to hate a god.
Thirdly, is inconsistency. God may rule one way here, ignore the same way when it happens over there, forget this or that thing. God is self-interested, and is not truly infinite, I would claim. God is essentially a creator, not the creation.
Now, let’s talk about why one should ever listen to God, any god, gods, etcetera. It is for their creation. To participate in their universe. If you can accept the God, you can see their universe as it is meant to be seen; seeing an artist’s work as it was meant to be seen, assuming the artist has any sort of God-like quality.
An example of a speculative god-world, “A Luxurious Clinic in Malibu, inspired by Zizekian Philosophy…”
Is God rich? Certainly some of God’s worshippers are.
The God of Malibu I find utterly and intuitively detestible, but I don’t think that I’m necessarily correct in an Absolute way to find it detestible. Everyday I hope I can come to know the ahistorical, vacuous, expensive juice drinking God of Los Angeles better. How can one hate such a nice place? (see the beginning of the essay)
