"Microfascism" is a stupid concept
People into this stupid French Philosopher named Deleuze insult people into the stupid French psychoanalyst that I like, Jacques Lacan, by calling them microfascists. I can’t help but to remember Zizek’s explanation of the band Rammstein as being a safe, positive version of fascist elements, sublimated into an ideological void which has no actual cause except libidinal expression.
To call therapy a microfascism fails to consider if microfascism is the same thing as fascism. Is microfascism diet fascism? Let’s talk about microfascism as just bite-sized and personalized fascism.
I walk home, but as a microfascist, I walk home with some steps and fantasize I am on some sort of march. No one is hurt yet, but let’s keep going. I imagine my family as a perfect fascist approved unit of wife and children who we genetically create. My microfascism is expanding. Or in other words, I have a wife and kids in a liberal democracy and fill the surplus with a personal fantasy.
I think of things in essential, genetic manners. I imagine myself as purely genetically determined, and my wife as well. I imagine our kids having no free will, being programs that run. But my program reflects a little bit, in order to get back to being a microfascist I need some choice, right? How else will I become a microfascist?
I assume that being a microfascist that everyone has to obey me and I don’t listen to them. As soon as I find out that this doesn’t work, I start accounting for other peoples’ needs, their differences. I start to realize empathy is good and I start to improve my deep need for fascist control by actually doing the opposite, accounting for the needs of others.
I focus on others feeling good and safe and comfortable, yet I recognize when they over step my boundaries that I find acceptable. As a microfascist I tell them I have boundaries that they are crossing. I enjoy fantasizing my boundaries are my country, I, dictator of right and wrong and deliverer of the new nation of microfascists, enjoy setting these boundaries and telling people when they are right and wrong.
Fascists love technology, and I post this on a blog. But supplementally, as a microfascist, I see myself as on the cutting edge, rubbing elbows with society’s elite as we describe and work towards a fundamentally strong way of life for all who carry my beliefs!
But also a better life for those who don’t hold my beliefs, because being a microfascist isn’t the same thing as being a fascist, it is something to call someone who has a basic idea of mental health and personal boundaries who isn’t a throwing around a stupid word like “microfascism.”
Emergent Fascism is just Fascism, not Microfascism
A definition of microfascism from illiberalism.org says, “‘Microfascism’ refers to the less visible, more emergent qualities of fascism before we see a fully-formed movement, party, or regime.”
This is not how people use microfascism today. It is used to slander movements which consider the positive values of limits and ideas. Deleuzians use the phrase microfascist to describe people who see the good in societal limitation over the good in ever expanding lines of flights and schizophrenic machinery which tries to subvert all common notions as freedom.
In conclusion, microfascism functions mainly as a rhetorical tool for people with a pure negative relation to common knowledge, not as a description of repression; therefore, it is a stupid concept. The end. That’s it! Blog is over! You can go back to scrolling social media now!
