That's so valid! How to begin your redemption arc...with yourself!
This person is good, that “person” is bad, but is it really that simple? Science stands for truth. Magic stands for bullshit. Your ego stands for the thing that knows what is right and wrong and so on. But is it really that simple?
No!
We want to think that we understand the world and that the world is full of good guys and bad guys like in those really good Marvel movies. Who would not want to be in a superhero movie like Black Panther or Deadpool? The really good guys win the day, the rogues are converted or they die, and the bad guys are seriously defeated!
Unfortunately, or fortunately, life is not that simple! Hegel discusses history as dialectical progess towards freedom…but woah hold on, what the heck does that even mean?
Ok, so what this Hegel guy is essentially saying is that certain places in the world get into conflicts, right? But those conflicts are not simply bad. It’s like, how could Batman be so cool unless he fought the Joker? Except it isn’t just Batman and Joker, it is people who are kind of like, both! Good guys and bad. Goad Guys!
So when the Goad Guys get into a conflict with each other, they end up figuring out something that is golden. Like, seriously important and good. So ultimately what seemed like an epic superhero movie between Batman and the Joker was really two Goad Guys discovering something really important.
So ok, but how does this have anything to do with me? I’m so glad you asked.
When we engage with the world, we can be quick to dismiss things as good and bad, but very quickly we end up filling our own minds with these harsh visions of good and evil. If instead we keep our focus on what the redeeming thing is during the conflict and learn to trust our intuition to sort through what sparks joy and what doesn’t, we can start to redeem anything that looks like purely a bad guy.
This doesn’t mean we don’t trust our judgment, it is ALL about intuition! Instead, we end up getting the ability to not hold within ourselves a bunch of unthoughtout one-sided judgments, and instead we are redemption minded, seeing the gold in the goad things.
Discover the gold in the goad, and see the world for the beautiful place it is! I hope you all have a fantastic and blessed day.
